The beginning

In February 1984 something or someone  made me stop and look.  When I did this there was melting snow and a few pieces of headstone visible, I could not do much for this place until spring arrived and the weather became suitable to explore.  During the next few months I began going to the library to see if there was information and found that there was not much available.  In the next few months of asking local residents and historical groups, I found out that there was a need to tell their story.

HELLO , AND WELCOME TO MY BLOG.  THIS IS THE STORY OF A SMALL PIONEER CEMETERY TUCKED AWAY IN A NEIGHBORHOOD IN  LORAIN,  OHIO.  FOUNDED IN 1828.  THE BURIALS THAT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FIND AND COMBINE WITH A PREVIOUS LISTS ARE FROM 1829-1880.  THESE HEADSTONES ARE NOT JUST SLABS OF A ROCK WITH WRITING, THESE WERE PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND I.  WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE? NOT MUCH REALLY. WE ARE THE SAME,  LOOKING FOR A BETTER LIFE FOR OUR FAMILY, WORKING HARD AND JUST BEING ALIVE AND ENJOYING WHAT GOD HAS GIVEN US.  WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE, WELL THEY SUFFERED MORE .  WE HAVE MODERN DAY MEDICINES AND TECHNOLOGY THAT MAKE LIFE EASY.  WE ARE LAZIER FOR SURE BECAUSE OF ALL THE HIGH TECH.  BUT FOR ONE THING I DO SEE IN COMMON AND THAT IS LOVE , RESPECT, AND DIGNITY.  WE ALL DESERVE THAT.  BUT FOR THIS FORGOTTEN CEMETERY THEIR STORY IS QUITE DIFFERENT COMPARED TO OTHERS, BUT WITH MODERN DAY LIFE CEMETERIES LIKE THESE CAN FIND A TERRIBLE ENDING, WHICH IS WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM IN MANY WAYS.  SO LET US TAKE A TRIP BACK IN TIME, TO THEIR LIFESTYLE AND LEARN ABOUT THEIR LIVES AND WHO THEY WERE. THANK YOU FOR READING
